School Board Meeting, Del. Henson, and the County Council

Delegate Shaneka Henson Tapped for vacant District 30 Senate Seat

The Anne Arundel Democratic Party Central Committee has recommended Delegate Henson for the seat formerly held by Sarah Elfreth. Elfreth has now become a member of the US Congress, representing the state’s 3rd Congressional District.
Favored in a 10-9 vote, the committee will send Del. Henson’s name to the Governor for final consideration.
The Board of Education Budget Meeting will include input from Community Members at Two Public Hearings.

The County’s Board of Education budget hearing will include public hearings to allow interaction with the community members.
The hearings will be held on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at Severn Run High School and Thursday, January 9, 2025, in the Board Room at the Parham Building in Annapolis. Both hearings begin at 6 p.m.
Interested community members who wish to speak at the January 7 meeting are encouraged to sign up at the event site at 5 p.m., and members can use this link for January 9, 2025.
Main Street Mavericks
Sheetz Coming to Anne Arundel County

Family-owned Gas station and convenience store brand Sheetz will open its first location in the county. Although the official opening date has not been set, the company will hold a hiring event on Wednesday, January 8, 2025.

Marley Middle School’s Assistant Principal Named Maryland’s Middle School Principal of the Year

Anna Ory, Marley Middle School Assistant Principal, has been named the Middle School Assistant Principal of the Year. Ory has been with the Anne Arundel County Public Schools for 17 years and is in her fifth year as an assistant principal.
